बाज़ार से महँगी शेल्फ मत खरीदो, वर्कशॉप से पाइन वुड का एक सीधा और मजबूत टुकड़ा चुनकर निकाल लो।

रूलर से सही नाप लो
दीवार की चौड़ाई के हिसाब से स्टील रूलर रखकर लकड़ी की सही लंबाई पहले अच्छी तरह नाप लो।
पेंसिल से निशान लगाओ
अब बढ़ई की पेंसिल से रूलर के सहारे कटिंग और जॉइंट्स के लिए एकदम सीधी लाइनें खींचो।

सॉ से सीधी कटिंग करो
सर्कुलर सॉ की तेज़ ब्लेड से मार्क की हुई लाइन पर सावधानी से चलाकर पट्टियाँ बराबर काटो।
रंदे से सतह समतल बनाओ
हैंड प्लेन की तेज धार से लकड़ी के खुरदुरे किनारों को छीलकर सतह को बिल्कुल सपाट कर लो।
छेनी से खांचा तैयार करो

Where beginners go wrong
Skipping grits. Going straight from coarse to fine sandpaper leaves deep scratches that the polish will highlight instead of hide. Work 120, then 220, and do not rush the last pass.
Not clamping before finishing. If the piece can move while you are polishing, you will get uneven patches and they only show up once the light hits it.
